Join Bradford Cathedral Choir for a Come and Sing Requiem for Palm Sunday. We'll spend the afternoon rehearsing this sublime work, before singing in a Palm Sunday evening service co-directed by Matthew and the Cathedral's Director of Music, Graham Thorpe.

Matthew Coleridge

Matthew Coleridge

One of the UK's most exciting compositional voices, Matthew's music leapt into the spotlight in 2023, when his Requiem was voted into the Classic FM Hall of Fame's top 100 - making him the second youngest composer on the list, and 10th highest living composer overall.

His beautifully melodic and deeply moving choral music is performed around the world, and is regularly broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM. Matthew has written music for acclaimed ensembles including Portsmouth Cathedral Choir, The Queen's Six, Papagena, and the Choirs of Christchurch Priory.

An engaging and charismatic conductor, Matthew is in increasing demand as a choral workshop leader, with regular events around the UK.

Graham Thorpe

Graham Thorpe - co-director

Graham is Director of Music at Bradford Cathedral, having previously held the post of Assistant Director of Music since 2019. He trained in London at the RAM and RCM. Graham is in demand around the country as a recitalist and accompanist. As an accompanist, he has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and has been recorded on both organ and piano. Notable recital venues include St. Paul's, Westminster, Hereford and Southwark Cathedrals.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists and a winner of the Worshipful Company of Musicians F. E. Smith medal. He is also received the RCO Peter Wiles Scholarship in support of his postgraduate studies.

Anthony Gray

Anthony Gray - organ

Anthony is the cathedral's Assistant Director of Music and Sub-organist. An organist, choral director and composer, his is also Director of Music of St Wilfrid’s Church, Harrogate and Conductor and Artistic Director of Halifax Choral Society. He graduated as Organ Scholar of Robinson College, Cambridge, Organist for St. John’s Voices and Accompanist of Cambridgeshire Choral Society.

He has been Musical Director of acclaimed theatre productions including The Duchess of Malfi, Joseph and his own co-authored A Very Brexit Musical at the Edinburgh Fringe. He was shortlisted in the final of the BBC Radio 3 Carol Competition 2019 with his setting of ‘Go To The Child’, was the winner of the 2022 Harold Smart Memorial Composition Competition and his music is performed across the country.
