CAN I COME AND SING? What to expect...
This event is suitable to all choral singers with a basic grasp of music reading. We'll spend the morning learning our parts, before polishing things in the afternoon. Sight-reading ability is helpful but not essential, and you'll be amazed at how much we get done in just one day!

If you'd like to learn your part ahead of the day, you can order a vocal score in advance. Free rehearsal tracks are available at www.koor.app (you'll need to create a free user account).

The performers
Matthew Coleridge

Matthew Coleridge

Composer and conductor Matthew Coleridge (b.1980) is an exciting voice in the British choral music scene. His first choral composition - the Corpus Christi Carol - was recorded by a cappella group The Queen's Six, appearing on the cover CD of BBC Music Magazine's Christmas edition in 2015.

His highly melodic and very approachable compositional style often blends elements of plainsong and medieval music with shimmering modern harmonies - weaving simple melodic lines into rich tapestries of sound.

Requiem (composed 2014-15) was hailed by the late Sir Neville Marriner as "a valuable addition to the 21st century choral repertoire". Is is regularly performed by choirs across the UK, and overseas.

Matthew's 'Requiem in a Day' choral workshops are very popular amongst choral singers, giving them the opportunity to sing this wonderful piece in some of the UK's most prestigious church buildings.

Karin Dahlberg

Karin Dahlberg (soprano)

Karin Dahlberg is a Swedish soprano who time and again overwhelms her audience performing works ranging from baroque to contemporary music. She is hailed for her scenic charisma, sense of style and a wonderful timbre throughout her vocal range. Ever since her 2004 debut, performing Mozart’s Mass in c-minor with the Gothenburg Symphony, she has appeared with a great number of Swedish and international orchestras.

Karin sings on Anne Sofie von Otter’s album “Bach” (Deutsche Grammophon), which was nominated for the Grammy Awards 2010 in the Best Classical Vocal Performance category and won the Danish Radio 2 Grammy.

Elizabeth Stratford

Elizabeth Stratford (organ)

Elizabeth was appointed Organist and Master of the Choristers at Arundel Cathedral in 2002, at the age of just 23. As such she was the first female to hold this level of position in the UK and also the youngest Cathedral organist in Britain appointed to date. Following her appointment she created places for 20 choristers in the Cathedral choir and has concentrated on developing the choir’s repertoire, membership and musicianship.

Sarah Gait

Sarah Gait (cello)

British cellist Sarah Gait is an innovative musician and creator. Recently awarded the 2020 ISA Digital Creative Award from the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, Vienna, for her video Heroes: the Shadows of a Tragic Mind, Sarah performs across the UK and Europe, including recently as soloist with the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester in another of her own improvisation-based compositions.

A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, London, and Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, Sarah has performed on BBC Radio 3’s Live in Concert and featured in Classical Music Magazine. Sarah is a keen promoter of classical music with young people, appearing as Ambassador for the BBC Proms Inspire Scheme, and her own compositions have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
